The RM Server Utility (How To)

The RM Server Utility allows you to view the current RM Server status and settings, as well as manage RM Server multi-computer access and database backup related tasks.

To launch the RM Server Utility, from the Window's Start Menu select "Motorola" è "RM Server" è "RM Server Utility".

The Server Status: Allows you to see the servers current stop or start status, as well as stop and re-start the running of the server. The version of the RM System and the RM Server is able to be viewed.

The Server Settings: Allows you to select the desired language for the Server Settings window.

1.	In the RM Server Utility's Navigation pane, under "Database", select "Backup".
2.	Click the "Browse" button to select or create the Destination folder where the backup is to be stored. In the "Browse for Folder" dialog, select "Make New Folder" if the desired folder does not already exist.
3.	If password security is desired, enable "Password Protect" and enter an appropriate password for the backup folder's contents.
4.	Click the "Backup" Button. A backup folder is created and labelled with the current date / time. The Backup operation will stop the RM Server; any currently running or scheduled jobs could be affected.

1.	In the RM Server Utility's Navigation pane, under "Database", select "Restore".
2.	Click the "Browse" button to select the Source folder that contains an RM Server database backup.
3.	Click the "Browse" button to select the Destination folder where the restored database files will be saved.
4.	Click the "Restore" Button. If the Source database backup was previously password-protected, you are prompted to enter the password before the Restore operation can complete. The Restore operation will stop the RM Server; any currently running or scheduled jobs could be affected. In the event of an error occurring during the Restore operation a valid backup must be restored before the RM Server will continue to operate.

In the RM Server Utility's Navigation pane, under "Database", select "Move".

Click the "Browse" button to select or create the Destination folder where the RM Server database is to be moved to.

Click the "Move" Button.

The Move operation will stop the RM Server; any currently running or scheduled jobs could be affected.

1.	In the RM Server Utility's Navigation pane, under "Authorization", select "Add / Delete Computers".
2.	Enable or disable the "Enable Computer Authorization" checkbox to define the desired Server access for the RM components ( RM Client, Job Processor, and Device Programmer ). Disabled allows any RM component to connect to the Server from any domain. When enabled, the "Add Machines..." button becomes available offering the choices of: "Domain" = on the current domain "Off-domain" = any domain other than the current domain Clicking the "Add Machines..." button retrieves the "Domain = on the current domain" choice, clicking the drop-down selector-arrow on the right side of the button offers the "Off-domain" choice. When enabled, you also have the ability to select which RM components ( RM Client, Job Processor, or Device Programmer ) can access the Server. Use the checkboxes to enable or disable RM component permission.
3.	When clicking the "Add Machines..." button to add On-domain computers to the permissions table: If known, you may enter a computer name in the "Enter the object names to select:" entry box, and then follow the Windows prompts. If you prefer to select the computer name from a list of available computers, click the "Advanced" button; now from the Advanced window click the "Find Now" button, and then follow the Windows prompts. Any changes do not take effect until the RM Server Service is restarted, or the RM Services and applications on each affected computer are restarted. 4.	When clicking the "Add Machines..." button to add Off-domain computers to the permissions table: Click the drop-down selector-arrow on the right side of the "Add Machines..." button to select the "Off-domain" choice. Enter a "Host Name" A passcode is generated for your use, however, you may enter a passcode of your choosing. This passcode must then be entered in the "One-Time Password" of the RM components ( RM Client, Job Processor, or Device Programmer ). Click the "OK" button
5.	Once new "Domain" machines or "Off Domain" machines are added to the permissions table, choose to enable or disable RM component ( RM Client, Job Processor, or Device Programmer ) permissions.
6.	To remove computers from the list, select the desired Computer then click the "Delete" Button. Any changes will not take effect until the RM Server Service is restarted, or the RM Services and applications on each affected computer are restarted.
